UTD for MAP 56-26(I), Temporary Lodging Expense (TLE) Recertification for NAS Fallon, NV (NV211)

This item extends the TLE extension recertification dates for the Naval Air Station Fallon, NV Military Housing Area (NV211). The initiating local command must document and certify the continued existence of a housing shortage in the affected area within each 90-day period after the effective date. Failure to recertify the continued existence of a housing shortage will result in an early termination of the extension at the end of that 90-day period. Effective October 2, 2026.

Why it matters: The update has a direct connection to lodging availability or traveler accommodations, rather than merely mentioning military aviation or an installation.

Currently, the Joint Travel Regulations (JTR) par. 033201 narrowly authorizes family travel and transportation allowances to seriously ill or injured Service members at a medical facility. Why it matters: The update has a direct connection to a traveler-facing military travel decision, rather than merely mentioning military aviation or an installation.

Space-A roll-call warning: mark-present deadlines are terminal-specific

Do not rely on one generic arrival rule. Current AMC guidance shows that terminals use different processing windows and mark-present deadlines.

Why it matters: A traveler can be signed up correctly and still lose position for a particular flight by arriving after the terminal's local mark-present cutoff. At busy Patriot Express gateways, processing can start hours before roll call and lines can be long.

Space-A cargo-aircraft prep: bring hearing protection and dress for temperature swings

Military cargo aircraft can be much louder and colder than commercial cabins, so Space-A passengers should prepare before boarding.
