Space-A roll-call guide
Space-A roll-call warning: mark-present deadlines are terminal-specific
Do not rely on one generic arrival rule. Current AMC guidance shows different processing windows and mark-present deadlines by terminal.
The risk
A signup does not automatically mean you are ready to compete at roll call.
Why it matters
Local mark-present cutoffs and processing times differ by terminal.
What to do
Read that terminal's current instructions and arrive travel-ready with margin.
Space-A travelers should treat “mark present” as a terminal-specific operational step, not a universal arrival rule.
Recent traveler guidance consistently recommends arriving early enough to finish processing before roll call. Current AMC instructions support that advice, but the exact lead time varies by location.
BWI currently says Space-A passengers must be marked present no later than one hour before roll call and recommends arriving five hours before roll call to ensure enough processing time. Seattle-Tacoma also publishes a one-hour mark-present cutoff. Dover recommends arriving one or two hours before roll call to allow time for processing and marking present.
That variation is the key lesson. A remembered rule from another terminal, an older forum post, or a normal commercial-airport arrival habit can be wrong for the mission you are trying to catch.
Before travel day, open the operating terminal's current page and 72-hour schedule. Identify the roll-call time and any separate no-later-than mark-present time, then allow for parking, rental-car return, installation access, baggage and document checks.
Arrive travel-ready. BWI specifically tells passengers to have luggage available, vehicles parked, rental cars returned and hotel checkout completed when marking present. Other terminals may use different local procedures.
The operating passenger terminal remains authoritative for current roll-call and mark-present instructions.
